Hygiene

There is nothing that shuts once successful salons down quicker than a health outbreak. The majority of these stem from cotton towel brushes. Cotton Towels are the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria, viruses and parasites as they are often dark, warm and sometimes moist when folded and stored.

To ensure that salons reduce the risk of bacteria and cross infection they must wash towels after every client and set the cycle at over 90 degrees. If towels are not washed on a high temperature they can spread infections such as head lice, skin lesions, ringworm and hepatitis C. Bacteria can survive on non disposable towels even when they have dried and their woven fabrics are more susceptible to harbouring germs.
